7/15/01 Meeting Notes

  1. Who is on eville-infra list

    • (at most) One member from each theme camp
    • what about single campers?
      • 1-person camps included if they choose to sign up
    • Rename list so that it suggests planning, not actual building

  2. Village layout: Euphoria, Lena, Lily

    • should have clear path running through (since we don't have sideage on streets)
    • dimensions are 300x400, at 8:45 between esplanade and Infant
    • let's map the path, the large structures, and the open spaces need to know who will be there early to place structures at setup time (discuss on list)
    • let's try not to over-commit our space, so that setup/placement will be less stressful
    • should beacon be on the playa across from camp, or in camp?
      • Creates open space w/in camp, but by same token takes up lots of space
        • Suggestion: have beacon in center of camp, open space around, theme camps opening inward toward it? Would need 90' square area - maybe too much
    • Other thoughts for central area: Bluehouse shade structure?
    • need date for draft: August 3rd
    • further discussion moved to eville-infra list

  3. Sound policy

    • frontage of camp planned to be dance area w/ moderate sound system
      • except now Bluehouse may not bring their stage
    • no louder than last year
    • don't respond to requests to "turn it up, man"
    • do respond to requests to turn it down

  4. Power: Dan Cohn, Kitts

    • layout people need to include place for generators
    • Kitts has ideas for centralized generator system
    • Big power needs: fridges, lights, Comfort, sound system
    • Plea for no noisy 5-kw generators
      • Sev pledges $1K toward the effort
    • Already have cable, etc in warehouse
    • Update by 8/3

  5. Shared assets

    • Ethan owns the bins
    • Mez owns the contents
    • Consider it part of Comfort camp.
    • Mez wants to find a new storage location
      • Tracey, Mason, and Kitts will be helping locate
    • Need inventory for crap in warehouse and bins
      • Coe will help with weekday inventory
    • Warehouse runs: we have promised that we'll only have 3-4 people there at once; weekends are way more expensive
    • Mason will see to construction of Stuff Tent
    • Discuss on stuff-l

  6. Water

    • shared vs distributed?
    • Lily used Simply Water in Reno--they have lg drums we could pick up there
    • Bringing water from home feels more safe--no risk of getting to Reno and having order lost
    • Large drums are heavy
      • Bring empty ones (w/spigots), fill with 5-gal bottles?
    • Could also try Sacramento, etc.
    • Water coolers are a Good Thing but require power.
    • Possibly go in on large order, distribute transport, share usage
    • Mason put order in last year, would do so this year
    • Adam might be willing to contribute but not lead
    • Dave Lockhart (and John) might fly to Reno, rent a truck, and bring water
    • Ties to stuff transport
    • Mason coordinate with David and John to determine plan

  1. Stuff transport: Tom?

    • ~truck cost = $15/sq yd
    • Lily is organizing a truck; pay her per how much stuff you want transported
      • Leaving on Thurs (8/23), return Monday (9/3)
    • DanS and Lena likewise
      • Leaving on Friday (8/24), return Sunday (9/2) noon-ish
      • But they need to leave Sunday morning, so can't take any of the major structures unless they find an alternate return driver
    • remember how heavy water is
    • lg vehicle drivers should submit POR to the list
    • Personal stuff vs inventory and large shared structures
    • Leo (and Adam and Spike and Leon) will drive a large vehicle, but not be responsible for finding and loading
    • Could get bigger trucks, use drivers with permits (Kitts and Leo)
    • Semi??
    • Tom will organize?
    • Add theme camp arrival/departure dates to online form

  1. People transport and vehicle policy

    • Eric knows of place to rent 15-person passenger vans
    • Heather strongly suggests NOT trying to coordinate large groups
    • Car policy: park on-site for load/unload, then move it the hell out of the way
    • Need to communicate that to the others camping with us, but as a policy but not a mandate
    • We should post this stuff on the web site, too.
    • Layout chix will be responsible for disseminating this info
    • what about RVs?
      • Layout chix need to know how many there will be

  2. Policy for adding more theme camps

    • currently have ~14 camps, ~150 people
    • we've lost about 140 people from last year (ALN, DeNile, Fey Abbey, eVille General Hospital)
    • let's cap population at 200
    • further additions go through the Cabal
    • need to get more of the non-Mezbian theme camp members on to eVille-d
    • and maybe have a mezbian-only list as well (eVille-Mezbians ?)
    • and an eVille-announce list that the Cabal posts decisions to

  3. Clean-up policy

    • make sure every camp is signed up to do thorough cleanup of their area
    • before you leave, your camp must have left no trace, plus contribute time to group effort
    • Tom is dealing with Comfort garbage (with Kat)
    • Last year's trash receptacles are in the warehouse
    • Need volunteer to take trash to dump, recyclables
    • Let's discourage glass containers
