Packing for burning man

Never been to burning man? Been there a few times? Either way, packing for burning man seems to almost always occur at the last minute. Here are some things that we at the Church of Mez tm have found helpful.

  • tent with 1 foot metal stakes
  • additional shade structure (to cover tent or for nearby - the tents heat up during the day)
  • camelbak
  • sunscreen (and how!)
  • wide brimmed hat or parasol
  • sunglasses (we go for purple)
  • goggles and a bandana or gas mask(for windstorms)
  • light clothing
  • something heavier to wear (it can get cold at night)
  • comfortable sandals
  • moleskin for when those sandals have stopped being comfortable
  • costumes, body paint, liquid latex, glitter, etc...
  • bicycle (decorated) - yes, the playa will trash your bike
  • trinkets to trade or give away
  • a place to put your cigarette butts
  • aluminum, not glass
  • headlamp (hands free illumination)
  • glowsticks
  • bicycle (decorated)
  • sun shower
  • money/cart for ice (ice is available for sale in center camp each day for several hours)
  • food and eatware for yourself (including packable items -you will probably be "on the go" a lot of the time)
  • vitamins/advil/tums (ahhhhh... the morning after)
  • a camera (for participating, not spectating)
  • little notepad to write down your address for all of your new friends
  • duct tape (you just never know...)
  • anything wierd or wild or artisitic that you can contribute to the general mayhem of the playa
